Virtual Learning
Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom has reimagined learning during these unprecedented times. Reimagined resources promote socially distanced activities suitable for the classroom or at-home learning. Teachers, parents, and students are invited to explore lessons and hands-on activities that thoughtfully engage PreK-12th grade students with their source of food, fiber, and fuel. Each lesson is aligned to Nebraska State Education standards within science, social studies, math, or language arts.

Just because you can’t have visitors, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on enhanced learning experiences! Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom has reimagined Classroom Visits for Kindergarten – 5th grade students with grade specific, hands-on lessons that promote socially distanced activities. These visits are suitable for classrooms or at-home learning.

Virtual Field Trip: Corn Harvest
Date: Date will be determined in early October
Subject: STEM in Nebraska Corn Harvest
Content Area: Science
Hang out with us as we harvest corn! Join us to learn about the science, technology, engineering, and math farmers use to complete corn harvest in Nebraska. This virtual field trip will take place from the front seat of a combine and feature Farmer Mitch while he shares his experience and expertise in his field. Students will be able to ask questions and receive answers in real time! This field trip is limited to fourth grade classroom participation. Sign up details will be posted in October as we get closer to a harvest date!

Facebook Live Corn Harvest!

Subject: Nebraska Corn Harvest
Join us on Facebook for a live event in a Nebraska corn field! Farmer Mitch will open the combine door and take viewers on a ride during corn harvest from the front seat of the combine. Farmer Mitch will share his experience and expertise as a sixth-generation corn farmer.

Facebook Live at a Pig Farm!
Previously recorded on April 16th, this Facebook Live took viewers to a pig farm! Farmer Lukas opened his barn doors to share how barns protect pigs from disease, predators, and weather to help them survive. Attendees were able to ask questions and receive answers in real time.
After the field trip, Farmer Lukas took everyone on a tour of the barn!

Facebook Live at Corn Planting
Previously recorded on May 7th, this Facebook Live took viewers to see corn planting in Central Nebraska! Farmer Mitch took viewers for a ride in the front seat of his tractor to discuss the science, technology, engineering, and math farmers use on the farm.
After the field trip, Farmer Mitch gave an update on his crops!

Farmer Dawn Story Time
What’s that you say? You’re hungry? Right this very minute? Then you need a farmer! In this video, Farmer Dawn celebrated food and farming to encourage learners to think about where their food comes from by reading the book Right This Very Minute.

Spring into Science! Farm in a Glove at Home
Let’s think about plants…what do they need to grow? Follow along at your own pace with videos, photos, and a scientific journal as an education specialist discusses the vital role farmers serve in meeting plants needs. Provide students with our Scientific Journal to follow along for five days of video updates and photos for six days showing the growth of each seed.

Lunchbox Mysteries
How did our food get to our house? Where did it come from? Who grew my food? Engage in a short video with Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom to discover how the food on your plate gets to you from a farmer’s field. At the end of each video lesson, students can extend learning by using common food items to create a healthy and nutritious snack.
