Nebraska AITC Champions

Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) recognizes the wisdom, creativity, and dedication teachers invest in the classroom and offers support through lesson plans and activities to enhance classroom learning. AITC has a long history of creating resources connecting state educational content standards in math, science, social studies, and language arts to food, fiber, and fuel.

AITC will recognize teachers as a Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Champion when they participate in programs and use AITC resources. Teachers will stamp seven items on their grade-specific checklist to complete their Champion Checklist. The first 50 teachers to complete their checklist will receive a special gift from NE AITC. Returning teachers are encouraged to participate again this year and will receive a new gift!

Use the AITC Teacher Toolkit to explore the checklist items! Discover a grade-specific pathway full of resources, lesson plans, and in-person opportunities available to your classroom at no cost. You can find the right fit for your classroom and win prizes!

Throughout the year, record in your classroom when you complete a program or resource. Collect photos as you complete each item as these will be uploaded for documentation to showcase completion.

Complete your grade-specific form after you have completed seven of the items from the checklist.

Check lists need to be submitted by April 15th in order for teachers to receive prizes by the end of the school year. If you have questions, please reach out to Brooke Carpenter at brookec@nefb.org or 402-646-5325.

Why use agriculture to teach core learning?

Agriculture connects people. Farms and ranches are everywhere in our nation. Agricultural businesses are in towns, cities, and communities in every part of Nebraska. In Nebraska, agriculture creates one in four jobs – jobs that your students can one day be involved in. The bottom line is, agriculture is an important industry for all of us and provides a rich context for learning about Nebraska’s past and present, the economy, lifestyles, the environment, and so much more.
