Megahn Schafer – Executive Director
Megahn graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Business Administration. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Megahn maintains active membership and volunteer positions with Prosper Lincoln, the Nebraska Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, the Nebraska Agri-Business Club, the Omaha Agribusiness Club, Lincoln Public Schools, and First Lutheran Church.
Megahn is a lifelong Nebraska resident and a native of Litchfield. She and her husband, Clint, have two sons, William and Elias.
Courtney Shreve – Director of Outreach Education
Director of Outreach Education
Courtney Shreve joined the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation in May 2014. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education-Leadership with minors in Agribusiness and Animal Science. Courtney directs the foundation’s statewide agricultural literacy programming including the Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Program. She leads curriculum development, teacher engagement, Connecting Chapters, partnership development, and manages the AITC program team. Courtney serves as an expert source of information on agriculture, food and natural resources to students, consumers, educators, and curriculum specialists.
Courtney serves as the National Agriculture in the Classroom Nebraska State Contact and maintains volunteer positions on the Executive Committee and Chair of the Public Relations Committee for National Agriculture in the Classroom. She was active in FFA and 4-H and remains a volunteer today.
Courtney grew up working in her parent’s custom meat processing plant and grew a passion for connecting people to where their food comes from. Today, Courtney resides in Table Rock, NE with her husband, Seth, and daughter, Elmie.
Lona Thompson – Director of Development
Director of Development
Lona Thompson joined the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation in 2018 as the Director of Development. Lona enjoys developing programs and events that connect people and improve communities.
Lona received a degree in Organizational Communication from Doane University. Lona is a founding member of Women United, Chair of the Lincoln Southeast High School Knight’s Vocal Music Boosters, and parent representative for the Knight’s Theatre Department.
Lona and her husband, Steve, grew up in the panhandle. They enjoy spending time with their three daughters, son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Emily Kammerer- Education Specialist
Emily Kammerer joined the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation in September 2021. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education- Leadership with a minor in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2022.
Emily is based in the Omaha-area and specializes in developing efforts related to agricultural literacy activities at events including classroom visits, camps, clubs, after-school programs, festivals, and fairs. She works in collaboration with the Director of Outreach to create agricultural literacy activities and lessons.
Emily grew up in Sutherland, Nebraska where she was actively involved in FFA and was a member of the Nebraska Farm Bureau program, “The Crew”. Emily’s agricultural background began by helping her dad with farmhand duties. She has a passion for youth and helping young minds understand the importance of Nebraska agriculture.
Brooke Tempel - Education Specialist
Brooke Tempel joined the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation in June 2018. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education-Teaching from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with minors in Agribusiness, Ag Economics, and Horticulture.
Brooke is based in the Lincoln-area and specializes in developing efforts related to agricultural literacy activities at events including classroom visits, camps, clubs, after-school programs, festivals, virtual field trips, and fairs. She works in collaboration with the Director of Outreach to create agricultural literacy activities and lessons.
Brooke grew up on an acreage west of Seward where she was actively involved in 4-H and FFA where her passion for agriculture grew. She loves working with youth to explore our state’s agricultural industries.
Ashley McClinton - Administrative Coordinator
